Many great performances to choose from this week.

Taylor Rochestie from Washington State grabs my POTW.  And not just because of his name.  :)

Coming into the weekend the Cougars had one victory in Pauley Pavilion.  Make that two.

Rochestie scored a career-high 33 including 14 of Washington State’s final 15 to lead the visiting Cougars over UCLA, 82-81.

Rochestie went a perfect 10-10 from the line – added 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and two steals.

Numbers only tell half the story as the senior won for the first time at Pauley in his final appearance.  Late in the game the point guard had buried back-to-back threes.  With UCLA extending their defense to neutralize Rochestie, the Santa Barbara native drove the lane for a lay up.  When his tear drop kicked off the back iron, the 6’1″ senior took to flight, rose above the forwards, and tapped the rebound into the twine.

Rochestie went 5-7 from long range.

Washington State came into the game averaging 58 points per game.
