Memories from a Major Weekend

For the past 33 years, Rochester has been a traditional stop on the LPGA tour – 2010 upped the ante as the Wegman’s Classic became the LPGA Championship. Rochester was hosting a major! Now don’t get me wrong – this isn’t the first time that Rochester has seen a major. Oak Hill has been the host for several PGA majors and was also the site of the 1995 Ryder Cup. But for Locust Hill, this was a first and a potential permanent stop for the LPGA Championship.

When you hear Jim Nantz on CBS with the famous phrase, ” The Masters: A time honored tradition” – they aren’t kidding. Every year the week starts off with an honorary tee shot. In past years it has been Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Arnold Palmer. In 2010 Jack Nicklaus takes a turn. No other tournament has a Champions Dinner – hosted by the prior year’s Masters champion.

Top 10 Ways To Distract Tiger Woods

Over the last few days, I have listened to experts say how the Masters is the perfect for Tiger’s return. The familiarity of the Masters for Tiger, Augusta’s ability to control the media and the cordial fans – should allow Tiger to play without distraction. Really? I am always up for a challenge. How do we distract Tiger Woods at the Masters? Well, I have brought it upon myself to come up with a list of ways to distract Tiger – some plausible, some ridiculous.

While Camilo’s name will begin to come up in conversations regarding the top players on the PGA tour – it is time to continue our look at golfers who may replace Tiger Woods as the best player in the world. Chasing Tiger: Steve Stricker

Over the last two days, reporters have been lining up to announce that Tiger Woods is hitting golf balls. Tiger Woods is running and getting into “golf shape”. In some ways it is a modern day version of Paul Revere’s midnight ride letting fellow New Englanders know that the British were coming. This time it is fellow PGA golfers taking notice. Tiger Woods is coming! Tiger Woods is coming!

This just in – Tiger Woods interrupted my vacation and I want an apology!! As I enjoying the last remaining rays of the Florida sun before having to head back to winter, Tiger Woods was less than 2 hours away – making the world stop.

The great thing about this list is that you don’t have to rush the elves to GET ‘ER DONE by 12/25. Nope, this list can be accomplished over several weeks … even months, if not years. Okay … coming clean here … some of the items are nearly miracles, so you might want to get some help from YOU KNOW WHO. So this is what I want, in no particular order, but the most important stuff is definitely at the end:

Some may call it the black sheep of the majors. Some even forget that it is a major. But starting Thursday, August 13th, the fourth and final major of the 2009 season gets under way – the PGA Championship. This year, the PGA Championship is being hosted by Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota.
