Come and hear all your favorites: “Love Me, Need Me,” “Let’s Wake Up And Make Love,” “Broken Guitar,” “Beer Truck,” and, of course, “Genesee Beer.”
Goldsboro, once again, orchestrated another fourth-quarter comeback. The Cougars aggressively attacked the basket, buried key free throws and turned back the Chargers 59-55 in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1-A eastern regional semifinals Wednesday evening.
Like the previous 299 wins, Nazareth coach, Chris Belmont, shook hands with the opposing coach, left the floor and accompanied his team into the locker room. If not for an announcement informing fans of his milestone, few would have known what happened.
Hopefully, everyone is getting a chance to watch this tournament. What a great sport, especially in the Olympics. The larger ice surface and elimination of fighting does it for me. I would much rather see a guy get an opponent by laying him out with a hard check. All fighting does is stop the flow of the game.
Before work began, the St. Louis Cardinals’ new hitting coach, Mark McGwire, found himself trapped by a crew of news reporters. They hounded the former slugger with questions about his past. McGwire smoothly redirected the discussion, referring to how he has ‘moved on’ and that the ‘evolution of his swing’ was…
Is there any truth to the rumor that has Amare Stoudemire leaving Phoenix for Cleveland? I am trying to imagine LeBron, Shaq, and Stoudemire on the floor at the same time. What set or sets could or would the Cavs run? With Stoudemire in the game, the Cavs could actually run the floor. With Shaq in the game? Well…we all know running is not important to the old boy.
Maybe I need my antenna adjusted, but I am having a difficult time putting Kobe ahead of Mr. Clutch on my personal pantheon of NBA greats. Okay, Kobe has 25,246 points as opposed to West’s 25,192. It’s important to note that West played 932 games. Kobe has suited up for 999. Something tells me points were more difficult to come by in West’s time. Certainly, money was a lot more difficult when West made his way. I’m thinking Jerry was not afforded as much time to train in the off-season. He probably needed to work jobs to make ends meet.
Ironically, it was Brookshier, a former Philadelphia Eagle, who nurtured my love for the New York Giants. A former defensive back, much of Brookshier’s analysis of the Giants focused on New York’s ability to stop the ball. Of course, in the 70s he would not have had much of a choice. The Giants’ offense personified ineptitude. The thought crossed my mind that it was Brookshier who introduced the influence of defense to me.
If the winter months are causing you to feel cooped up, The Chinchillas have just the remedy. Pete Anvelt, ‘Motorcycle’ Bill Ribas…
Somehow, Dayton and Xavier, like so many small schools, fall short in grabbing the national attention of casual fans. But to this region and to these schools, their students, and alums this is THE game.
