CINCINNATI — Xavier University sophomore guard Semaj Christon announced tonight that he would forgo his final two seasons of collegiate eligibility and declare for the 2014 NBA draft.
Xavier head coach Chris Mack commented on Christon’s announcement: “Semaj is excited to become an NBA player. It’s been his dream since he started bouncing a basketball. We wish him well and thank him for all his hard work and dedication to Xavier basketball.”
Christon, a unanimous 2014 First Team All-BIG EAST Conference selection and a member of the 2014 All-BIG EAST Tournament Team, led Xavier in scoring each of his two seasons at Xavier. His 17.0 ppg. as a sophomore was ranked sixth in the BIG EAST.
Christon finished his career with 1,034 career points, only the second sophomore in Xavier history to reach the 1,000-point mark. He added 281 career assists.
