Saint Joseph’s senior Isaiah Miles has been named the Big 5 Player of the Week for February 1, after averaging a double-double in two Hawk wins last week. It marks the second time this season that he has earned the Big 5 honor.
Miles averaged 22.0 points and 10.0 rebounds as Saint Joseph’s defeated Massachusetts and Rhode Island. He shot 54.5 percent from the field (12-for-22) and 85.7 percent from the foul line (18-for-21) in those wins.
The 6-8 forward from Baltimore, Md., scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the 78-70 win over Massachusetts, scoring eight of the Hawks’ nine points in the final 1:30 to seal the win. Miles hit 4-of-8 from the field and converted 9-of-11 from the line in that game.
Miles followed that with a team-high 17 points and eight rebounds to lead the 64-55 win at Rhode Island. He cored 13 points in the second half as the Hawks pulled away and went 9-of-10 from the foul line in the contest.
The senior, who ranks seventh in the nation in free throw percentage (89.4), is the team’s top scorer and rebounder with 17.8 points and 8.3 rebounds, and owns a team-best seven double-doubles on the season.
