Saint Joseph’s forward Ronald Roberts Jr. has been named both the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week and the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for March 3. It is his second weekly honor of the year for both leagues, and the third of his career for both.
He shares the A-10 award with Micah Mason of Duquesne.
Roberts averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in the Hawks’ 2-0 week which ran their winning streak to six games. The senior shot 78.9 percent (15-19) from the field and 58.3 percent (7-for-12) from the foul line.
Roberts scored a game-high 22 points in the Hawks’ 79-53 win over Dayton (Feb. 29), while hitting 8-for-11 from the field and 6-for-10 from the foul line.
The 6-8 forward from Bayonne, N.J., scored 15 points in SJU’s 83-74 win over St. Bonaventure (March 1). He made 7-of-8 field goal attempts while grabbing six rebounds and blocking two shots.
Saint Joseph’s is now 21-7 and in second place in the Atlantic 10 with an 11-3 record. It marks the Hawks’ most wins since 21 in the 2007-08 season and the most A-10 victories since the 2004-05 went 14-2.
The Hawks put their 8-3 road record to the test on Wednesday evening when they visit George Washington in a 9 p.m.game. The contest will be televised on SportsNet New York, on Comcast SportsNet and Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic.
