First it was Binghamton or bust. But after five innings on a hot Friday morning, it’s now state championship or bust as Kendall used a six-run first inning to take a lead it never relinquished in the Class C NYS Semifinals….

Ella Maley (Penfield) claimed the honor for Monroe County Division I after leading Penfield to the Class AA1 sectional title. Olivia Constantino (Webster Thomas) earned the award for Division II. Jalissa Crittenden (Eastridge) garnered the award after leading Eastridge to the Class AA2 finals after an undefeated regular season. Hannah Carpenter (Brockport) claimed the honor in Division IV. Coaches in each of the Monroe County divisions have announced their Players of the Year honors for this season, as well as All-League teams. 

Maddox Stoughton turned in a .507 batting average with three home runs, 33 RBI, and 20 scored runs while also going 4-1 on the mound with a 2.33 ERA as Gananda won the Wayne County league and earned the top-seed in the Section V Class C1 bracket…

One team has won ten straight. The other has won five of its past seven. Kendall and Section VII Ticonderoga will meet this weekend with the winner securing a spot in the Class C state title game…

One team has only lost once in it’s past 19 games. The other hasn’t lost all year and is looking to repeat as state champions. Fillmore and Oriskany will meet Friday morning in a clash of Section V and Section III, with the winner securing a spot in the state championship game…
