**** Welcome to the Pickin’ Splinter’s Who am I for A-10 women’s basketball. Each week we will highlight an A-10 player or coach past or present. Your mission should you choose to accept will be to take the set of clues and figure out who the player/coach is. Now let’s lay the ground rules for this exercise. First and foremost try this without research. Release your inner James Joyce and show us your stream of consciousness as you decipher the answer. Add to that the teachings of Myagi: patience. If you don’t get the answer right away, give your brain a chance to work if for no other reason than to stay in the discussion. You may not have THE answer, but you might prompt another reader by asking the right question. Good luck!
To figure out who I am, you had better know the history of the Atlantic 10 conference. You won’t find my name at the top of any of the all-time scoring records. I did finish my career with 1,484 points, but that doesn’t come within 300 points of the Top 20 all-time. Where I made my mark was on the defensive end. I finished my career with 436 blocks in 106 games or 4.1 blocks per game. I was a monster on the glass, collecting 1,074 rebounds over my career. My average of 10.1 per game ranks Top 20 all-time. I could have been higher in the rankings, but everyone above me played at least 10 more games during their career. Personally, I think I could have caught them. But it was during a Christmas tournament game that I made my claim to fame. In that game I did something that no other woman had done to that point. In fact I believe it has been done just once since. Still not sure? Give up? Well here is one more hint. My school is no longer in the Atlantic 10, but a current conference team beat my alma mater earlier this year.
Who am I?
