PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph’s sophomore Halil Kanacevic has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for February 6. It is the first weekly honor of his career.

The forward helped the Hawks to wins over Richmond and first-place La Salle by averaging a double-double of 11.0 points and 13.5 rebounds.

Kanacevic had four points, four assists and a team-high 12 rebounds in a 70-60 victory at Richmond, which snapped the Hawks’ four-game road losing streak.

He followed that with career-highs of 18 points and 15 rebounds in a 70-66 win over La Salle in a Big 5 game at The Palestra. Kanacevic made 7-of-10 field goal attempts and 4-of-6 from the foul line, while handing out four assists and blocking two shots.

Kanacevic leads the Hawks in rebounding with 7.4 per game and in assists, with 81.

Saint Joseph’s (15-9; 5-4 A-10; 2-1 Big 5) returns to action on Wednesday evening hosting Saint Louis. Game time at Hagan Arena is 8:30 p.m. with the telecast on The Comcast Network.
