It is that time again. Let’s hear from you readers. We had another week of stellar performances. Pick the ONE (1), UNE, UNO that stands out to you, and tell us a story.
Tu Holloway gets my POTW.
On a night where Xavier University inducted their latest hall-of-fame class, the junior point guard had his own HOF performance with a triple-double as the Musketeers burned the Wake Forest Demon Deacons 83-75. Holloway posted career highs of 10 rebounds and 14 assists to go with 14 points on the evening.
Holloway dished out more helpers than the entire Wake Forest team with 11. He had seven assists by half-time as Xavier grabbed a 39-30 lead. When the Hempstead, New York native fed Jamel McLean for a dunk, the Muskies held 14-point edge with less than 2:20 remaining in the game.
Xavier enshrined the late Skip Prosser, Lauren Clary, and NBA star, David West. West was the last Musketeer to turn the triple-double at the Cintas Center. West finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists on December 8, 2001 as the Muskies downed Long Island.
Who gets your POTW?
E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!
yeah, yeah, yeah. Here we go. Get it all out, now.
? I was just giving you my POTW.
Ouch, Casey. Sorry … I was thinking of going with the SanAntonio Spurs who haven’t lost in like a month, but I gotta go with Rey on this one. E-A-G-L-E-S … EAGLES!!!
Oakland University and more particularly, Keith Benson. Beat 7th ranked Tennessee, Benson had 26 points and 10 rebounds.
Allow me to be the pin cushion for all to take a poke.
Ab – GREAT CALL with Benson.
Speaking of the Eagles, was it just me, or was David Akers’ on-side kick the best you’ve ever seen? This doesn’t excuse the Giants for not being prepared for it, but he looked like he was going to kick it deep right up until the moment he kicked the ball. Then, he kicks it right into the ground, so it takes that huge hop that goes just a little more than ten yards. I’m not saying we haven’t seen that before, but the fact that he did that while disguising he was kicking deep was pretty impressive to me.
The talk shows are tearing into Coughlin for NOT having his hands unit on the field.
Ouch!! It is rough in here.. I was just going to nominate DeSean Jackson who plays of the E-A-G-L-E-S!!
Sorry I couldn’t resist!
I know everyone is pointing the finger at Matt Dodge, but what about the 10 guys who couldn’t make a tackle, let alone lay a finger on him!!
Forgot to add.. my real performance of the week was Dan Connolly of the New England Patriots. The right guard had a 71 yard kickoff return.. I have never seen anything like that in all of the football I have watched..
It was great!
Yeah, Smitty I was thinking that too. The tee vee shows the coach railing on the punter, but what the heck were all the other players doing then? I mean, maybe the punter shanked the ball, possible, of course. Ten other guys call it in and the punter is the one who get hollered at? Sheesh.
DeSean Jackson made one big play, which made up for the huge mistake he made earlier. There are plenty of other players on the Eagles more worthy. No one’s mentioned Michael Vick. Did he pass Tom Brady in the MVP race? It’s gonna be a tough call. Both those guys deserve MVPs.
The Giants loss hurts, but not as badly as…oh, never mind. You know what I was gonna say, right Smitty?
Apparently, Coughlin told the regular kick return team to be prepared for the on-side kick, but they got deaked. He also told Matt Dodge not to kick it to Jackson, that’s why he was yelling at him. I’m honestly surprised Dodge is still on the team, and not just because of this past Sunday.
Regardless, Coughlin deserves most of the heat for that implosion, and he’s owning up to it. No one’s excusing him for the best coach in the league. He may have fooled the Patriots into thinking he was on one particular day, but he’s not.
Sorry, couldn’t resist.
No one’s confusing him for the best coach in the league, I should have said.
