It is that time again. Let’s hear from you readers. We had another week of stellar performances. Pick the ONE that stands out to you, and tell us a story.
I’m going to stray from the obvious pick here (it is, after all, the year of the pitcher) and go with a consistent plate performance. The Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista had one heck of a week swinging the bat. In total he had 5 homeruns, 13 RBIs, and struck out just once. His batting average, which started at .245 on Monday, jumped to .260.
The Jays’ right fielder now leads the Majors with 32 homeruns on the season. They finished the week 4-2 after dropping this weekend’s games to Cleveland by a total of 2 runs.
Toronto travels to New York tomorrow for a 3-game series against the Yankees. Bautista should keep his bat hot; he is hitting .348 with 3 homeruns against the AL East-leading Yanks this season.
Who gets your POTW?
As much as it pains me because of the WhiteSox, those pesky Minnesota Twins deserve POTW. They won all their games this past week and are on an 8 game winning streak … keeping pace with the ChiSox who have also played well. Twins remain a 1/2 game out of first. These two will collide for 6 games in mid-August.
Dang. No wonder the Indians are terrible. Who could keep up with the White Sox, Tigers and Twins.
I am taking the homer route and going with the BoSox. The Sox went to Anaheim (or somewhere in So. Cal) and swept the Angels. So much for Danny Haren. He could not get out of the fifth. Of course, the Sox went belly up last night against the Tribe. But hey, that was this week not last week and the POTW was for specific dates.
Wait, Casey … Boston is your home ? Was your home ? Other explanation on how that’s a “homer call”? Anyway, they did have a good week … won’t argue that.
By the way, Casey, congrats on the book!!! (I’ve been meaning to tell you that). That’s awesome! Any way to buy the book without going to a Webster game? It’s kinda far away. Although I think next summer we’ll be making a trek to Rochester.
Ha! You are right. I have NEVER lived in Boston – I was extending the “homer” tag to my favorite team.
As for the book – thanks. I’ll save a copy for you.
I know … I just wanted to see your explanation.
Yes … please save me a copy of the book.
Maybe I will work out something where you can get a kindle copy of it.
