It is that time again. Let’s hear from you readers. We had another week of stellar performances. Pick the ONE that stands out to you, and tell us a story.
Carmelo Anthony nabs my POTW.
All ‘Melo did was score a game-high 42 as the Denver Nuggets opened the playoffs with a 126-113 victory over the Utah Jazz. ‘Melo hit his total on 18-25 shooting, including 2-5 from behind the arc.
Playing without their ill coach, Georg Karl, the Nuggets started their playoff run with an important win.
Anthony added four rebounds, five assists, and ZERO turnovers. Comes as no surprise, that Anthony had a game-high +17 performance. Utah’s leading scorer, Deron Williams, dropped 26 but was a minus 19 for the game.
Who gets your POTW?
I’ll tip my hat to the four guys that didn’t play in the 20 inning game between the Mets and Cardinals. I picture them like Rodney Dangerfield in Caddyshack, when a ricocheting ball hits him in the elbow – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_wy8ebqKbA
Or imagine their kids at home – “dad, 20 innings, and you sat on the bench the whole time? Are we moving again soon?”
Even though he looked like a q-tip dipped in iodine, I’m giving the nod to Ron Artest. He took the scoring champ, a pure jump shooter, and challenged nearly every shot in the half court. He also was able to stay out of foul trouble while holding Durant to just 24 points and 29% from the field. A little of this needs to go to the Lakers’ help side defense, as Durant refused to kick the ball out when he penetrated.
Now if the Lakers can figure out how to slow down Russell Westbrook, there is very little hope for the Thunder.

Quick with the wit on a Monday morning. Way to get it started.
I am going with the entire NHL, whose playoffs have not only helped me get over the Masters hangover I had – but it wasn’t until last night that I realized the NBA playoffs had started. The NHL playoffs made me forget all about it.
Specific consideration to the Washington Capitals who rallied from a 4-1 deficit in a pivotal Game 2 to win 6-5 in OT.
Awesome stuff.
