Okay, I’ll get this going. I wanted to do an article this week, but things didn’t fall my way this week. Follow up on the Masters and yes, I know it is a couple days later – but I also need a day or two to fully processed all the “game tape” from the weekend. Yes – I watched that much golf over the weekend. Here are some of my thoughts:

    1. Easy one – Phil Mickelson has easy taken over as possibly the favorite golfer on the PGA right now. Yes, Tiger gets all of the attention, but I think 50% of the population hate him and the other 50% root for him. So polarizing? Yes. But Mickelson, the family man is exactly what the PGA needs right now.

    2. Saturday was possibly some of the best golf I have ever watched. Like Wally said earlier this week Mickelson on 13,14,15, otherwise known as eagle, eagle and birdie was absolutely incredible. But guys like Lee Westwood, K.J. Choi, Ian Poulter, Rickey Barnes and even Tiger all provided great shots on Saturday. It was absolutely some of the best golf I got to watch.

    3. Anthony Kim and Lee Westwood will win majors in either 2010 or 2011. Both players looked great over the weekend and I think both players are that far off.

    4. Mickelson’s shot on Hole #13 on Sunday – the par 5 through the woods, over the creek and on the green in two – if he hit that 10 times, how many times do you think he hits the green? 5? 6 times, maybe? Through the years Mickelson has been criticized for his aggressive play – this past weekend, he seemed to know exactly when to be aggressive and when not to be.

    5. First I give the Sports Guy credit for noting this, but the Masters was a nice change of pace after watching 4 weeks of March Madness. Don’t get me wrong, nothing even close to being wrong with March Madness. But at times, it seemed like there was commericals every 5 minutes. During the Masters? About 5 minutes of commercials for every hour. The difference? The NCAA capitalizing on the ability to make money during the tournament and Augusta National Club Member who obviously aren’t too worried about making anymore money then they already have. It was just a nice change of pace.

    6. Is there anything better then Mickelson being seen at a Krispy Kreme picking up breakfast – wearing his Green Jacket. Ahhhh yeah.

I was listening to the Sabres game a little on the radio yesterday. It was intense. The crowd was nuts and I turned it on right as there was a huge 5 man brawl on the ice. The commentators were loving it, the fans were loving it, and I could feel the intensity through the radio broadcast. The playoffs have started…

Doesn’t matter that it is one game – Habs over the Caps!!!!!

Amen to that, Casey ! Rooting for Anchorage, Alaska’s favorite son, Scottie Gomez. Hope the RedWings continue losing as well.

And above all, I hope they guys with the Indian head sweaters get off to a good start tonight … seems like being the higher seed is pretty dangerous these days.
