Wow! Not 1 single issue on our plates! Oh, so contented! Are we all ramping up for conference tourneys and the big dance?

The NFL free agency starts in about an hour.. Considering all of the potential labor threats – it will be interesting to see what happens. Which teams will be big players?

Look for Chicago to make a major push along with Seattle and Washington for Julius Peppers..

G-Men are no longer going to be putting a bid in on Karlos Dansby..

7 teams interested in Chester Taylor

Dunta Robinson on his way to Atlanta

Buffalo wont be doing anything to flashy

Teams with new coaches other then Buffalo all seem to be showing interest in free agents.

Just a quick guess guys… Who wins the tournament?

    ‘Cuse all the way!!!!

Only about 5 teams have a chance in my opinion… Kansas, Kentucky, ‘Nova, ‘Cuse. The champion will come from there. I know it doesn’t seem like a stretch, but I don’t think any other team is good enough to win that many games…

I think there are at least 4-5 others who could be in the final 4 in addition to the 4 Dan mentioned: Ohio state, Mich State, K-state, WVU, BYU, Tenn. And Duke. Maybe even the Zags if they stay out West.

Nobody in the field is “unbeatable” … usually there’s one or two teams perceived to be on an “elite level”. Can’t say that this year.

I tend to agree with Wally on this one. Like he said, “nobody in the field is unbeatable.” There is not a North Carolina like last year that would require an opposing team to play a perfect game to win. Teams may not appear capable of winning the four games it takes to get to the Final Four, but there are quite a few teams capable of winning a big game or two. Then, suddenly, the field changes shape.

Don’t forget about Maryland. The win over Duke was an accurate representation of them. They have four guys averaging double digit points. It is tough to stop ALL of them.

Villanova is four and four in their last eight. I am beginning to think this last stretch is the true Wildcats. I didn’t realize until now how much Dante Cunningham contributed to that team last year.

Kentucky will lose to a Big Ten team.

UTEP is capable bringing down a favorite. The Miners play without fear. That is a dangerous characteristic in March.

Another team is Richmond. They will probably get an 11 seed. They play a frustrating match-up zone which not many teams see all year. Then mix in some tournament jitters and all of a sudden an 11 seed takes down a 6 and maybe a 3.

Temple is also capable. They lost Georgetown by 1 early this season. They have beaten Villanova and Va Tech. They got crushed by Kansas, but that was a game where they found themselves. The Owls did not back away from Kansas. They could have played a soft defense and kept that game close. Instead, they got out and challenged. They got whacked, but they got to see where they are. Now, they have had 2 months to make adjustments.

    Oh yeah, don’t forget Xavier.

I agree with Wally and Casey.. If March Madness has shown us anything over the years. Anything can happen and there is always going to be one or two teams there – the proverbial “Cinderella”.

Like Casey said, there isn’t the dominant North Carolina team from a year ago. Any of these teams can get hot for a couple of weeks.

Wally – Care to comment on the Chicago Bears opening up the wallets???

  10. WallyMarch 6th, 2010 - 1:44 pm

It’s nice to see the Bears spend major coin for a change. For last 15-20 years, they’ve been know as the “Misers of the Midway” instead of the Monsters. Hopefully, they have wisely chosen their free agents … time will tell. But they still have a gaping hole at WR and, let’s be honest, I think Lovie is a terrible coach. The first step is trying to get better, and the second is doing it smartly. So these signings are progress, esp if Peppers plays to potential, but I’m not yet doing cartwheels up here … or buying SB tickets. Too many other holes to fill, and of course Cutler must play much better than last season (How can he not?) A WR and a real offensive coordinator will help.
