I think the length of the pre game is due to the fact there is only one game. With baseball (and others), the multiple games give you more facets to talk about. And so it all becomes another reason not to watch, since who wants to hear 6 plus hours of speculation?

And Casey, I'd rather see kids playing in a guitar hero championship than the over the hill rock stars they always sign up. Not that I am anti rock, but there are so many bands available. Why not have a battle of the bands in both Indianapolis and New Orleans, and give each band 10 minutes? Nah, better to spend big bucks on aged icons, so the baby boomers in their corporate sponsored seats can feel good about themselves.

Fortunately, I was with friends and missed the Star Spangled Banner and Carrie Underwood. Thank God for Disney and Bolt.. For that matter - Clare Harrison for wanting to watch the end.

I was shocked at about 2, I turned it to CBS - hoping to see some college basketball game - can someone explain to me why SU is #2 in the country and I can't watch one of their games on a major TV network not named ESPN? But there is the CBS crew - 4 1/2 hours before the game talking X's and O's. C'mon, there had to be something else on.

Can you imagine if Fox decides to do 6 hours of analysis before a World Series game. Tim McCarver explaining what he used to do when Bob Gibson was pitching and a hitter tried to lay down a bunt? The suicide rate in America would skyrocket..

As for the commercials. Jim Nantz is starting to jump up in my book. His commercials were amusing. A couple of Bud commercials were decent including the house made of Bud Light. I got some chuckles like that and then we discussed whether a house like this would actually work. We ultimately decided the house would explode during winter time. But overall - I agree with Bill - the advertising people are either running out of ideas or took the Super Bowl.

Don't even get me started about the Who playing.. Roger Daltry looked like the poster boy for "People after too many trips to Botox camp". For the moral stance the NFL is taking(Suspending player for behavior)- how do they allow a registered sex offender perform at halftime?

Overall a great game.. Is there an over/under on how many days the party is going to last in New Orleans??

When I thought I heard those Underwood flubs, I looked over at the better half. She didn't react, so I thought I was mistaken.

It's one thing for baseball to start the game with "The Star Spangled Banner and do "God Bless" at the 7th inning stretch. It's another thing to do them back to back.

As for the coin toss convention - was it just me, or did Russ Grimm look rather...well...grim. It was like he just found out he was not getting paid to show up.

At first glance, when the Tebow ad came on, I thought it was Adrienne Barbeau making a comeback.

As for the halftime entertainment - you know I am all for rock 'n' roll. But the half time of a football game, I would rather see a marching band. What if they invited some high school bands from the cities involved. That's what they used to do. Can you imagine a high school marching band from New Orleans? They would have been fantastic. It would have been a great warm up for the Mardi Gras parades.
