I'll avoid the Super Bowl and go with the continuing rocket that is the Washington Capitals. After beating the Pens in come from behind fashion yesterday, they have now won 14 in a row!!! Only 2 other teams in NHL history have hit that mark. Stay tuned.

I'm confused. I thought we were only supposed to have ONE POTW. If we are first to the article, can we just list as many performances as we want?

All I know is Aunt Bea was baking a pie for Drew Brees after the game.

Back to my point - are we picking one POTW? Or do we get more?

Players of the week... Saints secondary....

No big plays, except the late one that really didn't matter.

Reggie Wayne generally not a big issue. He did have a couple of decent first down catches, but certainly no back breakers.

Dwight Clark had 7 catches, but he was thrown to probably 15 times. Many big pass break ups when the ball was thrown in his direction. And he was kept out of the end zone. Something that hasn't happened often this season.

My anti-player of the week, or the performer who disappointed the most....
Collie, the young Indy receiver. He was bad, did not make any plays, lost yards on a big screen pass late in which he had lots of blockers in front of him and he spun back the wrong way. (Manning actually subtley commented about that specific play in his post-game conference).
He's young, but so what. So is New Orlean's place kicker and he was clutch. Steve Young said it great when he gave props to a kicker in this year's playoffs finally stepping up and playing his best when it mattered the most.

Being an NFL rookie is a lot different than being a freshman in college. He has had a manly mature body for the last 4-5 years and had plenty of time to develop a strong knowledge of the game during his college years.

I must also give props to Pierre Thomas. He was huge last night, getting lots of YAC (Yards After Contact in this case) which was hard to come by last night. He was in "Beast Mode" all night. One of the many Saints to step up and play a great game on a huge stage.
