It’s that time again. Let’s hear from you readers. We had another week of many performances with which to choose. Pick the ONE that stands out to you, and tell us a story.
I am going with Seton Hall’s Jeremy Hazell.
Hazell showed Thursday night that one does not need to take a lot of shots to score many points.
On 9 of 12 shooting from the field, Hazell had a game-high 25 points to lead the Seton Hall Pirates over the Louisville Cardinals, 80-77. Hazell hit three of six from behind the arc and four of six from the free throw line. The junior from Harlem added five rebounds, two assists and two steals for the night. Hazell averages 22 ppg with 3.6 rpg.
Seton Hall is quietly getting in position in the Big East race. With three wins, the Pirates are just one game behind fifth-place West Virginia. Last year, seven teams from the Big East earned berths in the NCAA Tournament.
Who gets your POTW?

I’ll nominate the Saints … not cuz they played great yesterday … but just cuz they actually won the NFC championship game and are going to the Super Bowl for the first time in their history (1966). Having lived in that area for 2 years, I know that the Saints are a beloved team along the entire Gulf Coast area and those same fans are good people. Finally, some GREAT news for New Orleans!
Peyton Manning…You see the difference between him and 2nd tier QB’s like Carson Palmer and Philip Rivers when he goes for 375 yards and 3 td’s when the other two were embarrassed at home.
He’s the only QB who does what he does. He is like an old-school QB who would call his own plays. He literally calls the game. He is coach and player. He spoke of the two young receivers like they were his children yesterday, praising them for their hard work and willingness to learn. It’s amazing and we can’t take him for granted.
The Colts have had the perfect storm during Manning’s tenure…2 head coaches with religious backgrounds and no egos, an offensive coordinator who’s content as an assistant and doesn’t mind letting go of control, a dome and turf where passing is a viable option all year round, and 2 future hall of fame recievers (Harrison and Wayne). It’s an unbelieveable run that will not end until Peyton retires. I feel bad for the Colts in 10 years, they will never be as good as they are now…
Peyton Manning…nuff said…
Wally and Dan – good takes. I was leaving those open for you.
I know Dan took Peyton Manning but I am going with Pierre Garcon.
11 catches for 151 yards and TD. Garcon was huge last week in his hustle play to strip Ed Reed of the football. The Jets took away Reggie Wayne yesterday and Garcon was huge.
Peyton Manning was great, but he is also good as the guys catching the throws. Garcon gets my vote.
Smitty – great call!
