Illinois Penn St BasketballBy Paul Gotham

Another week of sports action, and so many great performances with which to choose. Step right up readers and give us the one (1), uno, une performance that stands out for you this past week.

Penn State’s Talor Battle grabs my POTW.

With his Nittany Lions facing a six-point deficit at halftime, Battle exploded for 28 points in the second stanza to lead Penn State over Virginia in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, 69-66.

Battle connected on five trifectas and handed out two assists after the break. The junior from Albany, New York also went 7-10 from the charity stripe including two free throws with :05 remaining to seal the victory.

Battle finished with 32 points on 9 of 15 shooting from the field with 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal. Battle’s three-point barrage is even more impressive when considering Tony Bennett is the new coach of the Virginia Cavaliers. Bennett’s Washington State teams of the past have always been tough on three-point shooters.

For the first time in the history of the Challenge, the Big Ten triumphed over the ACC.

Who gets your POTW?
