October 30, 1976 – The 3rd ranked, 6-0-1 UCLA Bruins of coach Terry Donahue traveled to Seattle to battle Don James’ 4-3 Washington Huskies. QB Warren Moon lead the Washington offense in the Huskies first ever Belt game. UCLA’s All-Pac 8 RB Theotis Brown rushed for a school-record 220 yards & scored 3 touchdowns as the Bruins defeated the Huskies for the first time in Seattle since 1958 to retain The Belt with a 30-21 victory.

October 29, 1983 – Coach Pat Dye’s Auburn Tigers were 6-1, ranked 4th nationally as the prepared to host 5th ranked, 6-0-1 Florida Gators of coach Charley Pell for The Belt. Auburn’s All-American RB Bo Jackson rushed for 2 touchdowns on runs of 55 & 80 yards as the Tigers withstood a furious comeback by the Gators to claim The Belt for the first time with a 28-21 victory.

October 28, 1995 – The 3-4 Arizona State Sun Devils of coach Bruce Snyder traveled to Eugene to meet the 10th ranked, 6-1 Oregon Ducks of first-year coach Mike Bellotti. The Ducks featured All-American CB Alex Molden as well as All-Pac 10 players LB Jeremy Asher & RB Ricky Whittle as it looked as if they would claim their first Belt reign but Oregon had a record of 0-8-1 with a history of near misses in Belt games. Arizona State’s All-Pac 10 QB Jake Plummer led two touchdown drives in the final 5 minutes as the Sun Devils defeated Oregon 35-24 to retain The Belt in a game that featured 5 lead changes.
