Before LeBron scoots to MSG, he might want to consult a financial advisor. The Knicks will have to use what little wiggle room they have with their team salary to bring him in. After that? He might have to show more patience with NYK than with Cleveland. At least the Cavaliers are getting some fat contracts off the books. Eric Snow and Szczerbiak ($20,000,000 total) are gone. Wallace is considering retirement. Danny Ferry has this year to work some magic.

Smitty --
Your plea to LeBron makes a lot of sense to me and many others ... why wouldn't essentially a native son of Cleveland, who's already wealthy beyond anyone's wildest imagination, not want to bring that starving city a championship. It's all pretty logical ... until you factor in that he might be at a slightly different place on "Maslow's NBA Hierarchy". Maybe he's not after more money ... maybe he's really after more FAME? Afterall, New York hoops fans are also pretty much starved for a chan'ship team .... how many years since the Knicks last won it all? Willis Reed & Debusschere & Frazier?
When you win it all in NY, the nation is your stage ... whereas Cleveland is kinda like Peoria. Seems that being "the guy who saved the Knicks" is a lot more sexy than "the guy who saved the Cadavers" ... er, uh, the Cavaliers.

Anyway, that's just my attempt to understand what might motivate LeBron to jump off the Cleveland ship. But like you, I hope he stays and gets 'er done there in Ohio.

So that explains it.

I saw a video of Manny today, and he looked a tad green. In fact, I even muttered that he bore a faint resemblance to Kermit de Frog.

I guess he was green with envy since he read this letter. :)

I think Manny's going to get jealous about this one, Smitty.

I hope LeBron stays in Cleveland too. I'd like to see him bring a title to that poor city.
