We’re taking a break from this series for this week and maybe next, but we’ve still got to announce our picks for second base. So, cutting right to the chase, here they are:

Rogers Hornsby

Joe Morgan

Jackie Robinson

Two of these guys–Morgan and Hornsby–were pretty much unanimous, and despite pretty good support for Nap Lajoie and Ryne Sandberg, Collins and Robinson were pretty clear picks for the remaining two heads as well.

Next up are the shortstops, so study up–if you so desire–and get ready for what could be our most interesting Mount Otsego discussion to date.

As one of the loyal bench members, this is unacceptable. You tease us with the start of a great series like Mount Ostego, then take a vacation halfway through? And may I add that this title was very confusing; I thought we had made our way to third base and was pretty excited because I plan on voting for Cal Ripken Jr. for both third base and shortstop.

I guess I’ll have to wait for my baseball history fix until you guys return. Until then, I’ll write about some soccer and keep the great conversations going :P

I agree with Rey. I was looking forward to this all week. I’m sure a lot of people are going to want to talk about Ernie Banks. Everyone calls him Mr. Cub. I remember as Mr. Monarch.

Good point Rey about the 3B being confusing. I didn’t even think of that.

Sorry about the break, but maybe I’ll post something about my trip to Turner Field in the meantime.
