The Chicago Blackhawks get my POTW. They are going to the Western Conference Finals for the first time in a looooooooooong time.

Second nomination goes to the Alaska Aces hockey team ... they are up 2-0 against Las Vegas in the Kelly Cup semifinals.

Third ... gotta agree with the nomination of the houston Rockets. Shane Battier has certainly turned into a fine pro ... esp for a Dukie ;)

Here's the Burrell clip:

It looked better live, I must admit. If you watch the whole thing, they show a replay from a different angle.

How about that would be friggin' cool! I'd high five my kid and tell him "THAT WAS AWESOME!!!" He wants an apology? Great lesson for your child. Mike Wilbon mentioned about how Carlton Fisk went into the stands when he was a kid and smacked him in the face with his catcher's mitt. He and his dad were ecstatic and he still reminds Fisk about it everytime he sees him. This dad should be barred from all sporting events.

Rey - another Pickin' Splinters insight!!!!!!

Pinpoint execution on that sideline out-of-bounds play. Everybody was expecting Pierce to receive a handoff after the inbound. Instead the Celts run down the clock and give the Magic no time to respond.

How about the father of the kid bumped by Davis. He wants an apology. How about stay off the playing floor?!?

Smitty stole my pick, so I'll keep the theme going and pick Paul Pierce for making the pass. This is a guy who is accustomed to taking the last shot, wants the ball in his hands, and he took what the defense gave him. Great team player and trusted his teammates even in the waning seconds of the game.

Thought the celebration was great, too. Magic, especially Dwight Howard, were not happy with it. Tough crap. Play hard and with intensity all game and you'd be up 3-1. Now maybe you know why people were still praising the Celtics after game 1. Giving up a lead like that shows no heart, no emotion, no pride. This is turning out to be a great series in what looked like it could have been a mess after game one.

Gee - I wonder if Ben Gordon would have made that pass or put up a shot of his own over two defenders?

Chas - great call with ARod's dinger. Wow! He showed a little flair for the dramatic. I hope Burrell's reaction gets posted on you tube.

Smitty - agree with you about the job Doc Rivers is doing. And yes that was a great reaction by him. But Smitty, do you make it a habit to watch tv with a mirror in hand?

Burrell was up to bat when Fenway let a roar as they watched the Celtics' last second victory. He was totally startled by it, and flinched a little. It was kind of funny. I was watching live and wondered what had just happened.

A-Rod's homer in his first at-bat was impressive. It will be interesting to see if he can help some of the newer Yankees relax. I don't think I am going to far out on a limb in saying that the Yankees' pitchers are pretty much the key to their season right now.

I didn't - but I did see my reaction after every Jason Bay at-bat. The guy is on fire right now! Funny how this Red Sox team is taking on the personality of both the manager and the owner. Refreshing and fun to watch.

Here is hoping that the Red Sox lock up Jason Bay to a long-term deal.
