Please forgive my lack of objectivity, but the Nazareth Lasers earned my POTW for the week. The Lasers re-wrote history by bringing home the Section V Class CC soccer crown – a first in school’s history. Naz took down the top-seeded Bloomfield Bombers who entered the match undefeated and had outscored their opponents 113-5 in the process. Bloomfield has four sectional trophies in their case. Naz moves on to the sectional play-down match against York – winners of six sectional titles in the last seven years.
Who gets your POTW?
Congrats Dad!
I have to give it to the City of Brotherly Love. Not for the Phillies though, but the fans. I expected there to be a ton of arrests and vandalism not seen since LA in the early 90s. But for the most part, the fans behaved themselves (only 76 arrested, WOO HOO!). The little vandalism reported was nothing out of the ordinary for Philly natives, so we can live with that. You have to love a city where the mayor has to get on the loud speaker and say, “It’s okay to be joyous; it’s not okay to be a jackass.” They responded well I thought.
There’s no contest … it’s the Nazareth Lasers. Congrats to Cece!
A second place finish might as well go to Texas Tech … that was probably the biggest win in their modest history.

Have you seen a more exciting contest, in this calendar year, than the Longhorns / Red Raiders game? TT reminds me of Oregon State a few years ago – speed all over the field. Ask Smitty, the word-wow- was all I could mutter while watching that game.
Thanks for the props about Naz. It has been a great ride that I pray keeps going.
That was indeed a great, exciting ballgame. But Tech better get their feet back on the ground quickly … they still have to face the two Oklahoma teams.
Very late in the 4th quarter, when TT was driving … hoping for the tying or winning score, an almost sure INT was flat out dropped by a Texas defender. At that point, I couldn’t help but think about Pete Bercich of Notre Dame back in ’93. He, too, dropped a sure INT late in the ballgame and a few plays later, Boston College kicked the game winning field goal as time expired. That drop cost ND the national title that year … I wonder if UT will look back at this play the same way when the season is finally over?
