I’m gonna let you guys handle the national (or international) POTWs for this week. I am nominating the Nazareth Lasers soccer team. The Lasers traveled to Pittsburgh this weekend and came home 1-0-1 and did not give up a goal in the process. This is the fourth year in a row the Lasers have participated in the prestigious showcase at Hampton High, and usually Naz returns home licking their wounds and saying that the losses will make them stronger. This year they tied Shaler High with a population of 2,100 and beat Quaker Valley with a population of 1,000. Nazareth’s student body consists of just under 200 kids. Great win for the gals.

Who gets your POTW?

I’ll nominate the St Louis Rams. How that hapless team went into Washington and beat the Redskins I’ll never know. Second nominee is Colt McCoy for a very efficient and effective performance to lead the underdog Longhorns to the victory over former #1 Oklahoma.

Going with Cole Hamels’ first game performance in the NLCS. 7.0 IP 6H 2ER 2BB 8K. I love watching this kid pitch.

Also have to nominate the Cardinals’ defense. Last time Tony Romo was knocked around that much. . . I’ll keep it clean on the clipboard.
