The Cubs have been impressive and appear to be the best team in baseball. They certainly deserve the performance of the week.

I am interested to see how they do on the road. So far they are below .500 on the road and a majority of their games already have been at home. Here is hoping they can continue their dominance or at least play above .500 ball on the road.

If you had a vote for performance of the "weekend", how about Jacoby Ellsbury? He was 7 for 15 over the weekend against the O's and had 7 stolen bases. Does this officially count as his rookie year?

The last time the Cubs had the best record a third of the way through the season? You guessed it 1908. The stars are friggin' aligning. Lowly Rockies and mediocre Dodgers? Who cares? They are beating the teams they are supposed to.

Great stuff Wally.

Despite the risks inherent in even discussing this ... as most Chicago baseball fans are leery of curses in jinxes ... I will tempt fate and nominate the Chicago Cubs for the outstanding performance during the past week. Sunday, the Cubbies finished off a 7-0 homestand and now hold the best record in baseball. Among the wins was a 10-9 comeback win after trailing 9-1. Okay ... so they beat the lowly Rockies and the medicore Dodgers during the streak ... we don't care. Best record in baseball a third of the way through??? Who woulda thunk it???
