Tony Parker must have grown weary of being an after thought in all the conversations regarding the top point guards in the NBA. Friday night Parker looked possessed as he dropped 41, handed out 12 assists, and grabbed 5 boards in Game 3 of the Western Conference quarter-finals.

All this came after Parker scored 32 with seven assists in game 2 and 26 with 5 assists in game 1. One would think after the first two games the Suns would have made the necessary adjustments. Guess they were a little late. On to game 5.

The Tampa Bay Dev- I mean Rays… for sweeping my Red Saux this weekend- and we pitched pretty darn well, but they pitched better… my hat goes off to them…

I want to nominate Josh Howard for his “timely” remarks about his off-season marijuana use right before Game 3. Apparently interview skills and timing weren’t taught at Wake Forest and it certainly has been a factor in his “lack of performance” the last couple of games. And certainly when they needed him the most. Not that the Mavericks were going to beat the Hornets – but the Hornets certainly didn’t need any help.

Next time Josh.. wait until the offseason and be like Jose Canseco – write a book. It could be named “Puff-Puff, Pass and Stroking: The offseason training habits of a NBA star”…

    Fulham of the EPL

A favorite of the EPL because they play two Americans (Brian McBride and Clint Dempsey). Facing relegation, they storm back from a 2-0 deficit to Manchester City and score 3 unanswered. The bottom of the EPL is arguably more of a dog fight than the top. Last year it was West Ham pulling off amazing win after amazing win to stay out of relegation, not it looks like Fulham may capture some hearts. Brimingham City had their chance, going up 2-0 on Liverpool but ended up choking and losing their points in a draw.

These games are the most exciting of the year. And why wouldn’t this work in American sports? I’d love to see the Miami Heat have to play D-league for a year next season. Maybe if there was a consequence, they wouldn’t have tanked so bad. Imagine the September series with MLB teams fighting off relegation to AAA; we’ll see teams start to fizzle before the All-Star break and pack it in soon thereafter because, hey – there’s always free agent spending and next year!

I’m looking forward to the Fulham V. Birmingham City game this coming weekend – two teams almost in dead last but both, however, with a shot at staying in the premier league. This will be a street fight. Now – who will be looking forward to a SF Giants-Pirates series in September? Not even the 3,500 fans who decided to attend the game for the free Barry Zito voodoo doll…

Is it possible? Three helmet stickers in one day? Reynell, my brother, you got it.

Maybe it is time to bring up that topic again: http://ccww.wordpress.com/2007/01/24/relegation-anyone/
